In a cruel twist of fate, Cameron Murray, the South Sydney Rabbitohs star, has been dealt a devastating blow with a ruptured achilles injury during training.

Former NRL player Joel Caine has shed light on the emotional turmoil Murray and his wife, Miranda, must be enduring as they face the prospect of up to eight months on the sidelines.

Murray had only recently recovered from a wrist injury and was aiming for a comeback under new coach Wayne Bennett.

However, as fate would have it, his achilles gave way during a defensive drill, leaving him writhing in pain on the training field.

To make matters worse, Murray's teammate Latrell Mitchell also succumbed to injury during the same session, adding to the Rabbitohs' woes.

Mitchell's hamstring issue will see him sidelined for the upcoming Charity Shield match and possibly beyond.

The Rabbitohs are hopeful that Mitchell's injury is not too severe, but Murray's absence will be keenly felt as he is a key player for both New South Wales and the Australian national team.

Caine expressed his sympathy for the couple, acknowledging the toll injuries can take on not just the player, but their loved ones as well.

"It's a cruel blow for him and Miranda.

Partners play a significant role in supporting athletes through tough times, and Murray's dedication to his recovery has been evident.

It's a tough break for a player who has given his all during the off-season," Caine remarked on SEN radio.

As the Rabbitohs regroup and rally around their fallen comrades, they will be looking to overcome this setback and forge ahead with determination and resilience in the face of adversity.
