Calls for Stadium Upgrade After Injury

Cameron Ciraldo, coach of the Bulldogs looks on at training, wearing a cap

Canterbury Bulldogs' coach, Cameron Ciraldo, has joined the chorus advocating for a renovation of Canberra Stadium after suffering an injury when glass smashed around him in the outdated venue.

Ciraldo, who ended up with a significant cut on his hand, was not alone in expressing his concerns. Raiders' coach Ricky Stuart echoed his sentiments, labeling the stadium a "s***house stadium" and suggestively criticizing officials for neglecting the well-being of the 1970s-era facility.

The situation escalated in the final moments during the Bulldogs' narrow 14-10 victory over Canberra on Thursday night, as Ciraldo accidentally impacted the glass in his coaching box.

"The box was quite foggy, so we couldn't see what was happening," he stated.

"We tried to open the window, and the whole window smashed on us. There was glass all over us, and I'll need a couple of stitches."

He added, "It's a great atmosphere, but it deserves an upgrade."

Upon learning of Ciraldo's injury, Stuart also expressed frustration over the stadium's condition, especially on a rainy evening in Canberra.

"I'm coming to the change room, and I thought it was raining in there. There's no good whingeing about it, because the people you've got to whinge to don't give a shit," Stuart remarked.

"The people who make decisions about the stadium don't care about the stadium. They don't care about the nation's capital having the shithouse stadium that we have."
