Bulldogs ace, Josh Addo-Carr, has sidelined himself after allegedly failing a roadside drug test, leaving the club feeling a bit like they've dropped the ball.

The star winger won't be taking the field against Manly in the elimination final, a blow that has hit the team like a hard tackle.

The incident occurred in Sydney after Addo-Carr left the captain's run, causing a stir among fans and officials alike.

Despite the test indicating a positive result for cocaine, Addo-Carr adamantly denies any wrongdoing, standing firm like a seasoned fullback defending his try line.

Phil Gould, the Bulldogs' football boss, initially backed Addo-Carr, but later changed his tune like a coach swapping out a struggling player.

After a meeting with club officials, Gould announced to the media that the 29-year-old had voluntarily withdrawn from selection, putting the team in a tight spot like being pinned in their own half.

The situation is still under review, with further analysis needed before any charges are laid.

Addo-Carr's absence will no doubt be felt on the field, leaving the Bulldogs scrambling to regroup like a team trying to recover possession after a knock-on.
