Bold Changes Needed for Bulldogs' Title Hopes
Following a disappointing exit in the 2025 NRL Finals Series, the Bulldogs are exploring a significant positional change to secure their first championship in over twenty years.
Since Lachlan Galvin joined the team, there have been ongoing discussions regarding the compatibility of him and Matt Burton in the halves. Neither player has proven to be a powerhouse playmaker or a traditional halfback.
Although they have had moments of success together, their partnership fell short in critical games, especially during last year's finals against the Melbourne Storm and the Penrith Panthers.
In light of these challenges, veteran reporter Michael Carayannis has suggested that a shift in roles could be beneficial.
"I think the issue is not so much around Lachie Galvin being in the No.7, it's that combination between Matt Burton and Lachie Galvin," Carayannis stated on NRL 360.
"I don't love. I don't think it works. I think we've got two guys whose best asset is running the footy, playing off the cuff a little bit."
This suggestion signals a potential shift in strategy for the Bulldogs as they aim to reclaim their place among the NRL elite.
