Canterbury Bulldogs coach Cameron Ciraldo has dismissed suggestions that Mitchell Woods should rejoin the team as soon as he recovers from injury. The Bulldogs are gearing up for more tactical adjustments in Round 5 against the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
Woods has been sidelined since the season commenced, which has hindered his development.
The 19-year-old is in contention as one of the halfback choices for the Bulldogs by 2026. Despite achieving victories in their initial two matches, the team's attacking cohesion was lacking.
This deficiency ultimately cost them as they faced their first defeat of the season against the Newcastle Knights.
It's quite possible the Bulldogs will consider a more enduring change in the halves. A recent halftime adjustment saw Stephen Crichton take on the five-eighth role while Matt Burton shifted to the centres.
Discussions are also ongoing regarding Galvin's future and position. He transitioned to Belmore from the Wests Tigers midway through 2025 with an estimated salary of $750,000 annually.
"Mitch is a great young kid, I love coaching him, he's just footy obsessed but he's 19, he's still got a little bit of an apprenticeship to go," Ciraldo remarked.
"He's been injured this pre-season. We know he's going to be a first grader, we love that he's at the Bulldogs but we're not going to rush him ever.
"There's no point worrying about those decisions yet."
