Match Report: Jersey Flegg Cup Round 20 vs Bulldogs

The Manly Warringah Sea Eagles faced a 36-16 defeat against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in Round 20 of the Jersey Flegg Cup at Belmore Sports Ground.

Despite showing flashes of promise with their attacking play on both flanks, Manly struggled to break through a sturdy Bulldog defense.

The game started with a swift move from Canterbury, allowing winger Jope Rauqe to score in the corner just seven minutes in, giving the Bulldogs a 6-0 lead.

Manly nearly responded quickly, but Benjamin Taylor was denied a try in the 15th minute; a diving effort to score was thwarted as he grounded the ball over the sideline after a well-timed intercept and an offload from Blake Metcalfe.

Canterbury extended their lead to 12-0 with Alekolasimi Jones scoring in the 18th minute.

However, Manly got on the scoreboard in the 26th minute, thanks to a determined run by Campbell Munn.

Jaxen Yow's inside pass found Munn near the 20-metre line, enabling him to break through the Bulldogs' defense and score under the posts, narrowing the gap to 12-6.
