Broncos Veteran Faces Tough Recovery Ahead

Concerns are mounting regarding the NRL career of Brisbane Broncos veteran Delouise Hoeter, who sustained a leg fracture along with a syndesmosis injury while competing for the Burleigh Bears in the QLD Cup.

In 2021, Broncos recruitment head Simon Scanlan provided Hoeter with an NRL opportunity; since then, he has been a part of the Broncos organization, although his appearances in first grade have been limited.

Hoeter marked his return in Round 6 of the 2022 season, ending a lengthy 2,475-day absence since his last match with the Wests Tigers back in 2015.

However, AAP reports that the determined outside back faces another challenging rehabilitation journey after tearing his patella tendon in 2024, which requires a significant 10-month recovery period.

The former Wests Tiger managed to participate in seven games during 2022, but has struggled to re-establish himself at the top level since then, registering only one appearance for the Broncos last year.

His journey ahead is expected to be arduous, and Scanlan has spoken highly of the NRL veteran's contributions.

"Some players make you better by the way they play. Some make you better by what they add to the dressing room. Delouise does both in bucket loads," Scanlan remarked to AAP in 2022 following Hoeter's return to the NRL.

During his last year, the lone match Hoeter participated in came during the State of Origin period, where he filled in at center and scored a try against the Bulldogs.

With Kotoni Staggs in exceptional form, set to represent the Blues this year, it's likely Hoeter would have been part of the selection discussions this season.
