Following a dismal loss to the Dragons, Dean Richie from The Daily Telegraph has drawn a firm line beneath Michael Maguire's squad, asserting their chances of defending their title are virtually nonexistent.
"They look old and slow to me, I don't think there's any way of putting it kindly," he stated during NRL360 on Monday evening.
"Let's cut through the crap, that was embarrassing in front of that many people to lose to the side coming last... right here, right now, I think they are gone."
"I think they are gone, on that performance I didn't find any positives at all."
This strong assertion follows their defeat to a Red V team that had not celebrated a win in 295 days, yet managed to establish a commanding 30-8 lead against a faltering Brisbane side.
