The Canberra Raiders have been dealt a tough blow as they were defeated 34-10 by the Brisbane Broncos in a rain-soaked showdown at Suncorp Stadium.

In the first half, the Broncos ran riot, scoring five tries to nil and establishing a commanding lead.

The Raiders struggled with their completion rate and suffered a setback with a biceps injury to key player Jamal Fogarty.

Despite a promising start, with the Raiders dominating field position in the opening 10 minutes, they were unable to capitalize.

Hudson Young missed a try-scoring opportunity after a pinpoint kick from Danny Levi.

While the Raiders seemed to have the upper hand early on, the Broncos struck first with a brilliant display of skill from Reece Walsh, who carved through the defense and crossed the try line after evading three defenders.

A mistake from young fullback Chevy Stewart led to a frantic scramble for the loose ball in the try zone, but the quick thinking of James Schiller saved the Raiders from conceding in back-to-back sets.
