Brisbane Broncos coach Kevin Walters has made the decision to leave veteran winger Corey Oates out of the team's qualifying final against the Melbourne Storm.

Oates, who has played 11 finals matches for the Broncos, was left out of the starting squad in favor of Jesse Arthars.

Walters explained that the decision was based on match fitness, as Oates has only played nine matches this year.

"I just feel that Oatesy hasn't played enough footy this year for us consistently for a match that's going to be fast on Friday night," Walters said.

Despite his experience at this level and in State of Origin matches, Walters believes that gaining experience can only come from playing in these high-pressure games.

On the other hand, Arthars has been a valuable player for the Broncos, performing well in whatever position he has been called upon to play.

Walters praised Arthars for his contributions to the team and believes he deserves the opportunity to start in the qualifying final against the Storm.

Walters also rubbished claims that Melbourne has a psychological edge over the Broncos.

He dismissed the notion of "hoodoos" and emphasized that his team is focused on the present and not dwelling on past losses.

"I don't believe in hoodoos," Walters stated.

"What's happened in the past is in the past.

We're just focused on this game and what we can control.

We're not interested in history."

The Broncos are currently on a horror losing streak against the Storm, but Walters remains confident that his team can overcome this challenge and secure a victory in the qualifying final.

He believes that the key to success lies in the players' ability to execute their game plan and perform to the best of their abilities.

"We've prepared well and we know what we need to do," Walters said.

"It's about executing the game plan, staying composed under pressure, and giving the all on the field.

We're ready to give it everything we've got."

With Walters at the helm, the Broncos are determined to break their losing streak and prove that they have what it takes to compete with the best teams in the league.

The qualifying final against the Storm will be a test of their resilience and determination, and they are ready to rise to the challenge.
