Brisbane Broncos' hopes for a championship hinge significantly on star fullback Reece Walsh, according to club legend Corey Parker. In the lead-up to the finals, teammate Corey Jensen stated that the squad has been focusing on improving their discipline. With the Broncos two points behind the Warriors on the NRL ladder, they still have a chance to secure a top-four finish this season.

A victory this weekend against the Cowboys would increase pressure on the top-four race, especially if the Warriors need to triumph over the Eels and Sea Eagles to secure a home final. Despite having lost key players like Adam Reynolds and Ezra Mam for several games, the Broncos are experiencing a late-season resurgence.

Parker believes the Broncos' chances in elimination games heavily rely on Walsh. The fullback has returned from a knee injury and is in excellent form, timing his comeback perfectly for the NRL finals. In his last four matches, Walsh has scored three tries and provided six assists, showcasing increased freedom on the field. Although concerns have been raised regarding his inconsistency and errors, particularly with some teammates sidelined, Walsh has embraced a greater responsibility while wearing the No.1 jersey.

Speaking on SEN Radio, Parker emphasized the critical role Walsh plays in the team's playoff aspirations: "If the Broncos are to make a run, they can't do it without Reece Walsh," he stated. "The way the game is at the moment and the style they play, they cannot win semi-finals or grand finals without him. He brings so much energy, attacking threat but the way the Broncos play, they need Walsh."

Jensen echoed Parker's views, asserting that Walsh is one of the hardest workers on the team. "Everyone loves playing with him. He doesn't mind a bit of a spray out there on the field and he can cop a spray as well. He is the heart and soul of everything...and he is one of the hardest workers in the team," Jensen remarked.

Just weeks ago, Walsh faced criticism for the Broncos' losses to both the Eels and Melbourne Storm. Former Broncos player Denan Kemp argued that Walsh needed to strike a balance in his gameplay to effectively lead the team. Nonetheless, Parker believes that it is Walsh's extraordinary performances which will keep the Broncos competitive in the NRL finals. Meanwhile, Broncos forward Jensen noted that the team continues to work on their discipline as the season reaches its climax.
