Broncos May Part Ways with Rising Star

The future of young Broncos dummy-half Blake Mozer hangs in the balance as contract negotiations unfold.

Once highly regarded, Mozer may face an uncertain path due to the impending re-signing of a veteran in his position.

Since his NRL debut in 2023, Mozer has accumulated 12 appearances on the field.

However, a series of unfortunate injuries has hindered his progress, leaving him behind seasoned players such as Cory Paix, Billy Walters, and Ben Hunt.

Mozer, who captained junior Queensland teams, was seen as the potential future hooker for Brisbane.

Yet with the club poised to renew Billy Walters' contract, alongside an extension for Ben Hunt already secured, Mozer's position may be in jeopardy.

On NRL 360 this past Monday, journalist Brent Read shared insights about the Broncos' intentions to secure Walters for additional years, ending speculation about his future with the team.

Walters, unfortunately, faced an ACL injury in a match against the Canberra Raiders during the finals' opening week.

"It looks like he (Walters) will extend and it will have ramifications for young Blake Mozer who people declared was the next Cameron Smith," Read noted.

"That's a big call," remarked NRL 360 host Braith Anasta, highlighting the weight of the comparison.
