Broncos may drop player amidst controversial Fifita footage

Broncos starting player set to be axed as David Fifita footage raises eyebrows amid Origin debate

Brisbane Broncos coach Michael Maguire faces a tough decision as Kotoni Staggs nears a return from injury, potentially displacing a starting player.

Meanwhile, footage of David Fifita has raised doubts about his State of Origin prospects.

Staggs is expected to make his comeback in Round 4 after missing the first three games of the season.

Maguire will have to choose between Deine Mariner and Gehamat Shibasaki to make way for Staggs, with Shibasaki seemingly the likely candidate.

Mariner has been underperforming and may be moved to the Queensland Cup to regain form.

Maguire had previously favored Shibasaki over Mariner in the preseason and could even consider shifting Mariner to the wing and moving Selwyn Cobbo to fullback in place of Reece Walsh.

While some have suggested demoting Walsh to reserve grade, it is unlikely that Maguire would make such a drastic move.

The decision will ultimately come down to Maguire's assessment of each player's performance and fit within the team.
