The Brisbane Broncos are seeking a new addition to their front office following the departure of Dane Campbell, who has joined the Perth Bears as their inaugural recruitment boss for 2027. Campbell transitioned to the Broncos from the Cowboys not long ago, signaling a significant loss for the Broncos.
In his statement about the move, Campbell expressed enthusiasm for his new role: "I am incredibly excited by the opportunity to join the Bears and work alongside some incredible people that have achieved so much in both rugby league and the corporate world. Perth is a great sporting city and I truly believe that we can build a team from the ground up that the community will be proud to call their own."
He also emphasized his confidence in the leadership of Mal Meninga, stating, "Mal (Meninga) has a proven track record of being able to unite high-performing teams and set great culture and values, which I am confident he will be able to instil in the Bears."
Meninga had initially hoped for Ezra Howe to take on the role of recruitment chief; however, that agreement appears to have fallen through. Howe recently departed from the Gold Coast Titans and is currently facing inquiries regarding potential violations of anti-tampering regulations.

Campbell will collaborate closely with Ian Millward, who has been appointed as the Bears' elite pathways manager. Millward brings decades of experience, having held various roles in the sport.
At 65 years old, Millward has coached numerous Super League teams and served as the interim head coach of the North Queensland Cowboys in 2008. Additionally, he spent over ten years with the Dragons, contributing as both an assistant coach and a pathway recruitment officer.
