The Broncos have received disappointing news in their efforts to secure Payne Haas' successor, as Xavier Willison makes an unexpected shift.
The promising player is changing his management representation and is expected to sign with Ahmad Merhi, as reported by Code Sports.
Merhi previously represented Haas when he facilitated the prop's surprising departure to the Rabbitohs, a significant setback for the Red Hill club.
While at this moment, there are no indications that Willison plans to leave the Broncos, Merhi also represents players like Addin Fonua-Blake and Keaon Koloamatangi.
Both players landed substantial contracts as middle forwards, suggesting Willison might be on track for his own lucrative deal.
Currently, Willison's contract discussions are reportedly paused while he navigates his management transition, though he has expressed his intent to stay in Brisbane.
"I want to keep (myself) at the Broncos. I want to stay here for as long as I can," he stated.
