Brisbane Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy expressed the club's feelings of shock and disappointment following the sudden resignation of assistant coach Ben Te'o on Tuesday.
This unexpected departure came after reports surfaced regarding a confrontation between Te'o and head coach Michael Maguire, with whom Te'o had previously played and secured a premiership in 2014 at South Sydney.
According to reports from Code Sports, the two reportedly clashed over team strategies during a dinner before their recent victory against Melbourne.
While Donaghy refrained from discussing the details of the altercation, he indicated that he and Te'o engaged in a "long conversation" on Monday that was characterized as "very respectful."
The Broncos CEO mentioned his surprise at having this discussion with Te'o, noting that it also took Maguire by surprise.
"We were shocked and certainly disappointed that someone like Ben, who we hold in such regard, had made that call," he stated.
