Brisbane Broncos captain Adam Reynolds has addressed the unexpected departure of Ben Te'o as assistant coach, amidst speculation linking him to a position at South Sydney with Wayne Bennett and Payne Haas.
Te'o decided to leave the Broncos despite having four years left on his contract, just four matches into the 2026 season. He had been pivotal in securing the Broncos' first title in years as the defense coach last season.
Various accounts suggest his resignation stemmed from a disagreement with Michael Maguire related to defensive strategies prior to the match against Storm, as well as the club denying him the chance to assist Billy Slater with the Maroons.
In a conversation on Triple M, Reynolds expressed uncertainty regarding the details of Te'o's decision but praised him as a promising coach with great potential.
"Still a bit in shock, don't know exactly what went on, but he's a wonderful coach," Reynolds stated on Triple M.
"A lot of the success we had last season is due to Ben Te'o. We don't know exactly what goes on or what went on."
