On Thursday morning, Michael Maguire's patience was severely tested as he faced intense questioning from journalists regarding the surprising departure of assistant coach Ben Te'o.
Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy confirmed that Te'o, a 2014 premiership winner with South Sydney and former Broncos player, submitted his resignation earlier in the week, following reports of a disagreement with coach Maguire.
Code Sports specifically highlighted that the tension arose over defensive strategies before Brisbane's narrow comeback victory of 18-14 against the Storm.
Additionally, the club's decision to prevent Te'o from pursuing a position with Billy Slater in the Origin setup reportedly contributed to his decision to leave.
Maguire was pressed on these issues during the media session on Thursday but chose to remain tight-lipped, consistently emphasizing the significance of the team's recent success against Melbourne and the importance of building on that momentum as they prepared to face the Dolphins.
"It's a busy week. Obviously things that I guess you don't expect to happen," Maguire remarked when asked about the situation.
