The Brisbane Broncos have been hit hard by injuries and were unable to overcome the Gold Coast Titans in a packed Macca's Local Derby at Cbus Stadium.
The Broncos lost key player Payne Haas early in the game to a serious foot injury, followed by five-eighth Ezra Mam exiting with an ankle injury just before halftime.
Titans fullback Keano Kini was sin-binned for the tackle that injured Mam, much to the dismay of the crowd of over 25,000 fans.
Despite the setbacks, Reece Walsh showed his electric pace in the first half, while Pat Carrigan put in a Herculean effort and Captain Adam Reynolds displayed great leadership on the field.
The Broncos managed to secure an 18-10 lead at halftime, but it wasn't enough to secure the win on a tough day for the team.
Walsh scored the first try of the game in the 11th minute after a slick pass from Reynolds, showcasing his fancy footwork and determination.
Reynolds converted the try for a 6-0 lead, but the mood dampened when Haas had to leave the field due to his foot injury.
Nevertheless, Walsh continued to shine and scored his second try in the 15th minute after an unbelievable leap to catch a high ball from a Reynolds kick.
Reynolds added the extra points for a 12-0 lead, but the Broncos couldn't maintain their momentum throughout the game.
