The Brisbane Broncos have appointed Jesse Arthars as fullback for their upcoming match against the North Queensland Cowboys this Friday.
Captain Adam Reynolds will also take the field despite suffering an injury in last weekend's contest against the Gold Coast Titans.
The Broncos faced significant injuries during their victory over the Titans, with Reece Walsh (fractured cheekbone), Ben Hunt (MCL), and Reynolds (adductor) all unable to complete the game.
While Walsh and Hunt will be sidelined for several weeks, Reynolds's participation remains uncertain but hopeful.
Arthars effectively filled in for Walsh after his injury, transitioning from wing to fullback seamlessly before half-time.
Walsh is regarded as one of the game's stars, but Arthars stated that he won't attempt to mimic his playing style.
"I don't feel the pressure. Obviously, we are two different players and I just want to bring my strengths," Arthars remarked.
He added, "I am sure the boys will have faith in me and that is something I want to repay to my teammates and to Madge (coach Michael Maguire) for picking me and trusting me."
His teammates have acknowledged Arthars's excellent organizational skills and powerful ball-running as noteworthy attributes.
"They are the areas I really want to focus on if I am going to be playing fullback. I like to bring a lot of energy and talk a lot around the club," he stated.
