It's the ongoing farewell debacle that just won't quit.
Brisbane has surprisingly issued an apology to fans for mishandling the send-off of their departing captain and halfback, Adam Reynolds, on Thursday night.
After facing a week of negative press regarding his absence from the game against Melbourne, Reynolds first stated that coach Michael Maguire and club doctors ruled him out. Just a day later, he claimed the decision was his own, sparking fresh controversy over his lackluster send-off.
Despite a home game crowd of 36,476 attending the last match of the season, which ended in a 46-20 loss, the post-game tribute intended for Reynolds fell flat. A power outage at Suncorp Stadium prevented the farewell lap and tribute footage from being displayed on the big screens.
