Brandon Smith has signed a two-year deal to join the South Sydney Rabbitohs, where he will have the opportunity to play under master coach Wayne Bennett.
The former Kiwi hooker had previously backflipped on Bennett at the Dolphins, but has now committed to working with him at the Rabbitohs.
While the move is currently set for next year, there is a possibility for an earlier switch from the Sydney Roosters if the two clubs can come to an agreement.
Smith has been a free agent since last November and was informed during the summer that he would not be staying with the Roosters beyond the current season.
Although there were talks of a potential swap with the North Queensland Cowboys involving Reece Robson, Souths emerged as the more likely destination for Smith.
Despite joking about struggling to convince Bennett to sign him due to their previous encounter in 2021, Smith is now set to join the Rabbitohs and add depth to their roster as they aim for success in the upcoming season.
