In the highly anticipated 2025 Ampol Women's State of Origin series opener, the Blues emerged victorious against the Maroons at Suncorp Stadium.

After a disappointing Game One loss in the previous year, the Maroons rallied to win Game Two and decisively clinched the series in Townsville, marking a historic three-game women's Origin series.

With a fresh lineup, the Maroons were led by new coach John Strange and captain Isabelle Kelly, showcasing a revamped halves pairing of Jesse Southwell and Tiana Penitani Gray.

The team also introduced four debutants: centre Rory Owen, winger Jasmine Peters, lock Tavarna Papalii, and bench player Jada Ferguson, aiming to build on their past success despite the setback against the Blues.
