Bennett Misses Out on Key Player

Wayne Bennett has suffered a setback in his pursuit of a promising player, as the New Zealand Warriors are poised to secure one of the NRL's top performers with a new multi-year contract extension.

The Daily Telegraph revealed that 25-year-old Tanah Boyd, who has been shining on the field this season, garnered Bennett's interest.

Boyd has shown his commitment to the Warriors, and an official announcement regarding the extension is expected imminently.

South Sydney attempted to sign the former Gold Coast Titan, hoping to reunite him with his old teammate David Fifita.

As Boyd reached the end of his contract this season, his tenure in New Zealand marked a significant turnaround, especially after he spent a large portion of the 2025 season in the NSW Cup, contributing to a championship win.

After being released by the Titans along with Erin Clark shortly after the 2024 season, Boyd has transformed into one of the league's most stable players this year, proving the Warriors' confidence in him was well-placed with a series of impressive performances that have other clubs vying for his signature.
