In a shock move that has sent shockwaves through the Rugby League world, South Sydney boss Blake Solly has finally spilled the beans on the Wayne Bennett bombshell.
After the axing of coach Jason Demetriou, the Rabbitohs have confirmed they are in talks with the legendary coach to potentially make a return to the club.
Solly, who faced a barrage of questions from the media, revealed that Bennett's experience and track record could be just what the doctor ordered for the "unique" playing group at Souths.
The club is leaving no stone unturned in their quest to find the right fit for the team, and Bennett's name is at the top of the list.
"Wayne is a proven winner, and we believe he has what it takes to bring out the best in the players," Solly said in a press conference.
"We want someone who can connect with this bunch of lads and lead them to success on the field."
Bennett, who left Souths at the end of the 2021 season, is no stranger to success in the Rugby League world.
His reputation precedes him, and if he is open to a return, the Rabbitohs are more than willing to have a chat with him.
"We have a long history with Wayne, and we know what he is capable of achieving," Solly added.
"If he's keen and available, we would love to see him back in the fold.
It's about finding the right fit for this group, and Wayne could be the missing piece of the puzzle."
