Wests Tigers coach Benji Marshall has expressed the significance of family over football, particularly in light of his family's involvement in a controversy last year.

In his second season as head coach, Marshall, who has led the team to a 5-5 record, is working to revitalize the club after three consecutive last-place finishes.

Despite being criticized for adopting a "9-5" coaching approach, Marshall firmly believes that family should take precedence.

In an interview with Woman's Day, the 40-year-old reflected on both his and his wife Zoe's challenging childhoods.

Marshall, who was raised without knowing his biological father and lost his adoptive father to cancer, emphasized the importance of being present for their two children, Fox (7) and Ever (4).

Zoe echoes this sentiment, recounting her loss of her mother to breast cancer at the age of 24.

Marshall stated, "Being a dad is my greatest achievement and it's something I take really seriously.

Parenting is the hardest job in the world and it's such a big responsibility to try to get it right.

For me, the most important thing is raising the children to be good people." Zoe remarked, "The children don't really understand how lucky they are...in how present we are.

It's not something either Benji or I had when we were growing up."

This commitment to parenthood underscores their effort to provide a nurturing environment for their kids, emphasizing that their family experiences significantly influence their parenting approach.
