"Parramatta Eels' temporary skipper, Trent Barrett, has laid down the law on the chatter surrounding Clint Gutherson's potential position switch, labelling it as 'a little bit disrespectful'," reports zerotackle.com.
The Eels, currently battling to keep hold of Blaize Talagi, are rumored to be considering moving the youngster to the rear and slotting Gutherson in at centre.
Speculation has arisen over Gutherson's ability to perform as a full-back in the long run, mainly due to some niggling knee problems.
But Barrett has come out swinging, deeming the discussion disrespectful.
"Gutho has been a stalwart at this club for yonks, and some of the natter I find a bit off," Barrett exclaimed.
"He's the backbone of the team, the lifeblood of the operation, and we all have a soft spot for him.
He's the main man at fullback on my watch."
These statements were made during Barrett's address to the media at the club's captain's run before the showdown with the Melbourne Storm on Friday night.
