Jake Averillo is set to play his 100th NRL game in Queensland, a surprising milestone given his roots as a former Canterbury junior.
Initially seen as a player destined to remain with the Bulldogs, Averillo is now flourishing in Redcliffe, where he embraces a quieter lifestyle and aims for finals football for the first time.
Averillo made his NRL debut in 2020 as a teenager, facing significant challenges including five head coaches during his four seasons at Belmore.
Following another bottom-four finish in 2023, he found the opportunity to start anew in Queensland irresistible.
"Wayne is the reason I came up," Averillo stated, highlighting the influence of his mentor on his decision to join the Dolphins.
