Australia's Latrell Mitchell faces unfamiliar bench role

Classy Latrell response after Kevvie snub; Grant’s ‘dangerous’ Samoa warning: WC Daily

Latrell Mitchell has again been named on Australia's bench for Sunday's World Cup semi-final against Samoa.

Bradman Best and Kotoni Staggs are again selected ahead of him, after Mitchell started the tournament opener but has not played since.

The South Sydney centre returned from injury in round 26, coming off the bench in his first game in almost four months.

Usually a starter, Mitchell said the unfamiliar reserve role was "refreshing" and that he was happy to contribute wherever needed.

"I'm going to come on in the middle," he joked.

"I'm just here for Kotoni and to back up the backs. I'm here to play wherever's needed. If it's five minutes to go then I'll come on and kick a field goal (if they need it)."

"Whatever Kevvie (Kangaroos coach Kevin Walters) needs, I'll do.

"I'm part of a team that's got a bunch of superstars, so anywhere I can add value is something I'm grateful for.
