Latrell Mitchell has returned to Australia's Test side after injury troubles in recent seasons, as Kevin Walters named a 23-player squad for the Rugby League World Cup.
Sam Walker is among six debutants and will compete with Cameron Munster, Tom Dearden and Mitchell Moses for a place in the halves.
Reece Walsh will challenge Clive Churchill medallist James Tedesco for the fullback position.
Captain Isaah Yeo will postpone pectoral surgery to lead Australia's campaign.
Walters said, "I'm really happy with the balance of the squad."
"We have some real strike power and a significant amount of experience, along with size, power and speed."
He added, "This will be a huge test. I have never before seen the amount of talent spread across the top nations. We are going to need to be at the best to take out the World Cup."
