'Is he about to sin bin himself?': Andrew Johns blasts referee after Dragons' missed opportunity
The NRL's top eight race has been thrown into chaos after a bizarre incident left the Dragons empty-handed, much to the dismay of rugby league legend Andrew Johns.
According to a report by news.com.au, the Cronulla Sharks have strengthened their hold on a top-four spot with a commanding 38-10 victory over the Dragons.
This result has now opened up the final spot in the top eight, with five teams vying for the coveted position in the upcoming round 27.
With just one spot left to claim, the pressure is on for the Dragons as they sit on 28 competition points.
Their fate could be decided in their clash against the struggling Eels in round 26.
However, with a dismal points differential of -120, the Dragons are at risk of being knocked out of finals contention if they falter against the Eels or the Raiders in the final round.
The Broncos, Dolphins, Knights, and Raiders are all nipping at their heels with 26 competition points, with only the Raiders having a worse points differential at -131.
As the competition heats up, every point counts and every decision by the referees is scrutinized.
With tensions running high, Andrew Johns' fiery comments only add fuel to the fire as the race for the finals reaches its climax.
