In an impressive move to switch codes, Zac Lomax identifies himself as a rugby "novice," aiming for the chance to become a dual international and participate in next year's World Cup on home soil.
While he remains open to the possibility of continuing his NRL journey, Lomax has fully dedicated himself to rugby union, expressing his commitment at a pivotal moment in his career.
Having last played rugby during his primary school years, the 26-year-old understands the challenges he faces as he gears up for a possible Super Rugby Pacific debut with the Western Force against the Chiefs this month.
"It's a mountain that I'm at the bottom of, and I really want to climb and become the best rugby union player that I possibly can," Lomax stated.
He acknowledges the steep learning curve ahead, saying, "Realistically, there's so much that I need to learn. I'm a novice to the game."
Lomax's transition followed exits from St George Illawarra and Parramatta, as he sought a future within the global R360 competition, but his dreams to join the Melbourne Storm faced a setback in court.
Nevertheless, the former NSW State of Origin winger expresses no regrets and firmly stands by his choices made throughout his career.
"That's me that made the decisions, and it's me that has [to suffer] the consequences - no-one else," he remarked.
"It's my decisions, and they're the ones that I've made, and it's one that I stick by."
