NSW Origin standout Hudson Young has decided to hold off on a record $3.3 million deal from the Raiders for the time being.
The club is allowing him a short period to seek opportunities with the financially robust expansion team, the PNG Chiefs.
Young's management plans to formally ask for a week to discuss potential deals with Chiefs executives early in September after meeting with Canberra officials last Friday.
Recently, the Raiders enhanced their initial three-year contract extension offer to Young to $3.3 million, marking the largest salary in the club's history in an effort to secure one of the league's top talents.
However, with the Chiefs offering tax-free salaries as they enter the player market, the Raiders recognize Young's interest in exploring options with the new franchise.
