Young talent continues: Alex finds a new field

Alex Young, the older brother of Dominic Young, has secured a contract with the Cessnock Goannas, enabling him to continue his rugby league career.

Previously an outside back for the Sydney Roosters, Alex spent last season mostly with the Glebe Dirty Reds in the NSW Cup and Ron Massey Cup.

Despite being on a developmental contract, he struggled to make a significant impact and was ultimately passed over for other outside backs.

As a result, the Roosters chose not to exercise the mutual option in his contract, which would have promoted him to their Top 30 roster for 2025.

This development comes shortly after his younger brother, Dominic, transferred to the Newcastle Knights mid-season.

Alex is a two-time Jamaican international, having represented Jamaica in the 2022 Rugby League World Cup (RLWC).

Prior to his time in Australia, he played for Workington Town (2022-22) and Newcastle Thunder (2023) in the English Super League's second-tier competition.
