Promising young Canberra Raiders forward Trey Mooney has chosen his future, agreeing to a multi-year deal with the Newcastle Knights, but with a specific condition.
Less than a week after the Knights presented him with a three-year offer, Newcastle Knights Juniors and Zero Tackle reported that Mooney reached an agreement to join the team following a meeting with assistant coach Blake Green last Tuesday.
However, the deal hinges on the coaching staff's future, particularly regarding who will be in charge in 2026.
According to Zero Tackle, Mooney's contract is expected to earn him between $500,000 and $600,000 annually.
The Parramatta Eels and St George Illawarra Dragons were also in pursuit of his talents, but the Knights have consistently been seen as the leading candidate for his signature.
