Young Wests Tigers forward Tim Johannssen has officially earned his stripes with a contract extension after impressing in his NRL debut against the North Queensland Cowboys.

Starting his journey in the lower grades, Johannssen climbed his way up from the Sydney Shield to the Ron Massey Cup and finally into the NSW Cup before making his mark in the top flight.

Hailing from the Newcastle Knights pathways system, Johannssen showed great potential in his limited playing time and has now secured a train and trial contract for the 2025 season.

With an option for the following year, he could cement a spot in the Wests Tigers' Top 30 roster or continue his development in 2026.

This feel-good story of the 2024 NRL season is proof that hard work and determination can pay off in the world of rugby league.

Johannssen's journey serves as inspiration to aspiring players looking to make their mark on the big stage.
