Yeo Leads Australia for Ashes Sweep

Yeo returns as Kangaroos look for Ashes sweep

Kangaroos coach Kevin Walters has opted for a strong lineup for the third and final Ashes Test in Leeds, rather than introducing his unused squad members.

Returning to lead the team is skipper Isaah Yeo, as Australia aims to secure a clean sweep against England.

Following their convincing 14-4 victory at Everton last weekend, which established a dominant 2-0 lead, Walters had earlier considered rewarding fringe players by including them in the final Test at Headingley on Saturday (Sunday AEDT).

However, despite suggestions to use this "dead rubber" as an opportunity to assess new talent for the upcoming World Cup, he has chosen what he believes to be Australia's strongest 17 for this crucial match.

"We've had to work exceptionally hard in challenging conditions to win the opening two Tests, and while we'd like to reward the extended squad for their outstanding efforts on tour, we just feel that the players who have got the job done deserve to play in Leeds," Walters stated.

"The playing group has had a few days off to freshen up and now it's back to work - we've trained well today and we've still got the captain's run to get ourselves where we need to be for what is a very important Test match for both sides."

The only change to the second-Test lineup that narrowly defeated England in Liverpool is Panthers lock Yeo.

The 30-year-old managed to play only a few minutes in the first-Test win at Wembley, before suffering a head injury from Dom Young that sidelined him.
