Woolooware Sharks Leagues Club opens

We're open!

The 2016 premiership trophy greets visitors to the new Sharks Leagues Club at Woolooware Bay, which opened to members and the public on Saturday 7 November.

The venue is open from 10am until late, seven days a week, on the site of the former club.

Former Sharks committee member Graeme Morrison led the opening guests at 10am. A long-time volunteer and member since the late 1960s, he helped deliver the original club and joined when it was beside the railway line in Caringbah.

Sharks Chairman Steve Mace and CEO Dino Mezzatesta welcomed Morrison at the entrance.

The resort-style facility features The Deck, an elevated hospitality area with room for about 2,000 people and views of Ocean Protect Stadium, Botany Bay and the Sydney skyline.

Other spaces include The Gallery, The Chairman's, Sapphire Bay Gaming Lounge and Reefy & Wanda's Kids Club. Hospitality partner Dedes Waterfront Group runs Flying Fish Bistro and Amici Pizza Pasta bar.

The Immortals Lounge recognises club greats, while Porchlight Cafe takes its name from Paul Gallen's 2016 premiership remark, "turn the porchlights off". Summertime Bar shares its name with the downstairs bar at the old club.

At Friday's media preview, Mace and Mezzatesta were joined by coaches Craig Fitzgibbon and Tony Herman, NRL players Nicho Hynes, Blayke Brailey and Michael Gabrael, and NRLW players Teagan Berry and Jada Taylor.

An official opening ceremony and fireworks followed that evening.
