The North Queensland Cowboys NRLW have secured a three-year contract extension for winger Jakiya Whitfeld following her representation of Australia in the 2024 Pacific Championships.

Whitfeld, who has made a mark as one of the league's premier wingers since her transition from the Wests Tigers NRLW, will now remain in Townsville until at least the end of 2028.

Originally a Rugby Sevens star, Whitfeld has made 20 NRLW appearances, with nine occurring while playing for the Cowboys, where she made an immediate impact by scoring six tries in 2024.

This performance earned her the Cowboys NRLW Players' Player Award and an opportunity to compete for the Jillaroos against England in Las Vegas in early 2025.

Cowboys NRLW head coach Ricky Henry praised Whitfeld, stating, "Jakiya has been an incredible asset to the club since joining in 2024.

Her competitive spirit and high standards inspires the squad to strive for excellence."
