Willie Mason, a former player and current member of the Canterbury coaching staff, has caused controversy in the NRL world with his comments about club culture and discipline.

Some NRL fans have questioned whether Mason is the right person to be speaking on these topics, especially considering the ongoing dramas at Canterbury.

Mason spoke out after reports emerged that a Bulldogs player had walked out on the club after being subjected to a humiliating wrestling session as punishment.

Mason defended the tough approach, saying, "There's no excuses and you'll get weeded out of the club...if you can't handle the way the Bulldogs play and train, this is not your f**king club." Mason is known for his outspoken nature and clashes with authority, including a fallout with former coach Steve Folkes in 2007.

This led to his departure to the Roosters.

The ugly dramas at Canterbury, which have included player discontent and poor on-field performances, have intensified as the season draws to an end.
