Sharks NRLW fullback Jada Taylor will undergo scans to determine the extent of an ankle injury after a training mishap on Friday night.
Taylor, who was one of the Sharks best players in their round one win over the Raiders, will unfortunately miss the game against the Tigers on Sunday.
The timeframe for her potential return has not yet been confirmed.
This setback comes after forward Rhiannon Byers suffered a wrist injury and will be out for the rest of the 2023 season following surgery.
Byers, a former Australian rugby sevens international, joined the NRLW Sharks this year after playing for the Cronulla club in the Harvey Norman Women's Premiership.
Taylor, on the other hand, joined the Sharks this year after representing NSW under-19's.
In Taylor's absence, the versatile Andie Robinson, who was also a member of the NSW under-19's in 2022, is expected to step in as fullback for Sunday's game.
Fortunately, middle forward Tegan Dymock will be returning for the Sharks' round two match against the Wests Tigers after missing the opening round due to illness.
The only other long-term injury concern for the Sharks is experienced forward Holli Wheeler, who is recovering well from a knee injury and is expected to be available in the coming weeks.
