Jack Wighton, the centre for South Sydney Rabbitohs, has openly endorsed emerging talent Tallis Duncan as a prospective captain for the club.
Duncan is among the players whose contracts expire at the conclusion of the 2027 NRL season, which means he can negotiate with other clubs starting this November if not secured by Souths sooner.
Demonstrating exceptional versatility in both the back row and centre positions, Duncan has exhibited Origin-level skill since making his mark in the NRL.
"The club would be bloody foolish if they didn't prioritise him, you know what I mean," Wighton stated to the media as they prepared for a significant match this Saturday.
"He'd be first off the rank if it (were) me running the club, and I can see him as the next captain of this whole club."
Duncan has expressed a strong desire to stay with the Rabbitohs, although his talent will inevitably attract attention from various teams if a renewal isn't arranged before November.
"I love this club, if it was up to me, I'd be here forever," Duncan shared.
Additionally, Wighton has urged the organization to extend Cody Walker's contract, which is set to expire at the end of this season.
Having joined the club in 2016, Walker has consistently been one of the most gifted halves, and even at 36, he continues to demonstrate his capability in the NRL.
