Wigan Warriors secured their place in the Super League Grand Final with an 18-6 victory over the Leigh Leopards at The Brick Community Stadium.
According to reports from skysports.com, Wigan led comfortably at halftime with a score of 14-6, thanks to a converted double from Bevan French and a penalty from Adam Keighran. Leigh's points came courtesy of Robbie Mulhern and Gareth O'Brien.
In the second half, Wigan focused on maintaining their lead, showcasing impressive defensive skills to prevent Leigh from scoring in front of a crowd of 18,523. Fans erupted in celebration when a pass from French set up Sam Walters for the final try.
The lead-up to the match was marked by controversy, as Wigan issued a statement claiming that Derek Beaumont, the owner of Leigh, had indicated that his team would not participate in the game due to a ticketing dispute. Beaumont later suggested he had never formally requested to cancel the match.
With this victory, Wigan is now laser-focused on securing their third consecutive Grand Final win, following their triumphs in 2023 and a historic quadruple in 2024. Achieving this would place them alongside Leeds Rhinos and St Helens as the only teams to have accomplished such a feat.
