Wakefield Trinity achieved a surprising victory against Wigan Warriors at Belle Vue, significantly impacting the Super League standings.

Wigan had an opportunity to narrow the gap with league leaders Hull KR but fell short against an assertive Wakefield side.

According to reports, Wakefield withstood an early pressure phase before establishing a 10-point lead at halftime, thanks to tries from Caius Faatili and Josh Griffin.

Wigan struggled to find their rhythm throughout the match.

Adam Keighran managed to close the gap to four points early in the second half, but Wakefield responded effectively, extending their lead with another try from Tom Johnstone.

Although Wigan's Jai Field scored a late try, it was insufficient to prevent their third defeat of the season.

The outcome elevated Daryl Powell's Wakefield into the upper half of the league table, simultaneously ending Wigan's impressive nine-match winning streak.
