Brogan Evans, a Wales rugby league international, experienced a significant setback in her career shortly after joining the Wigan Warriors in the Women's Super League 18 months ago.
Just a few games into the season, she sustained a career-threatening injury that led to knee reconstruction surgery.
Complications with her spine followed, and Evans acknowledged that it is "highly unlikely" she will ever return to traditional rugby.
Reflecting on the impact of her injury, the 29-year-old shared, "I was crushed, I can't express what a massive part of my life rugby was." After feeling lost during her recovery, particularly while hospitalized over New Year 2025, she found hope when she discovered a poster encouraging participation in wheelchair rugby.
This new opportunity has allowed her to continue her passion for the sport in a different form.
