The Wests Tigers are undergoing significant changes in their coaching staff, as Aaron Payne has stepped down from his position as head coach of the reserve-grade NSW Cup team after two seasons.
Payne is returning to North Queensland for personal reasons. His tenure at the club saw him bring extensive experience to the NSW Cup side, culminating in a ninth-place finish on the ladder during the current season.
"It's been a great experience working with this group of players and helping them strive to be better every day," said Payne. He expressed satisfaction in witnessing many players make the transition to the NRL as they continue their growth and development.
"I'm grateful to the club for their support and the opportunities they've provided over the past two seasons," he added.
Previously recognized as a key player, Payne was recently named in the North Queensland Cowboys' 30-year team for his role at dummy-half. He has over 200 first-grade matches under his belt and joined the Wests Tigers as a successor to Wayne Lambkin.
