Rugby League news down under has Wests Tigers supporters cheering as two young guns from the Magpies' Harold Matthews team, Christian Taupau-Moors and Pheonix Godinet, have been chosen to represent the Australian-based New Zealand Under 17s squad.

With a squad of 42 players, these two forwards from the Magpies showed their mettle in the 2024 season, helping their team reach the Harold Matthews grand final.

Despite a 34-16 loss to the New Zealand Warriors, both players managed to get on the scoresheet.

The match, held on the sunny Gold Coast, was more than just a game - it was part of a cultural camp aimed at strengthening the bond between Australian-based Kiwi talent and their heritage.

It's all about donning that famous black jersey with pride.

Leading the charge on the coaching staff was none other than Wests Tigers Pathways Manager - and former Kiwis player - Balmain's own Bronson Harrison.

It's a true testament to the longstanding connection between Australia and New Zealand in the world of Rugby League.
