Rabbitohs farewell seven players as Wayne Bennett re-build begins

LeagueNews.co | Cooper McEnroe

The mighty Rabbitohs bid adieu to seven players as coach Wayne Bennett wields his scythe in preparation for the 2025 season.

The departures of stars Damien Cook and Tom Burgess are no surprise, but halfbacks Dean Hawkins and Dion Teaupa, winger Izaac Thompson, and forwards Leon Te Hau and Michael Chee-Kam will also be saying their goodbyes.

Chee-Kam looks to be heading to the Sea Eagles, while Hawkins is rumored to be attracting interest from the Eels and Titans.

Teaupa, Thompson, and Te Hau, however, have yet to find a new home in the NRL.

As these players exit stage left, newcomers Euan Aitken, Gerome Burns, Lewis Dodd, Lachlan Hubner, Jamie Humphreys, and Max McCarthy are gearing up to make their mark on the team.

The winds of change are blowing through the Rabbitohs camp as Bennett shakes things up in pursuit of glory.
