Outgoing Dolphins coach Wayne Bennett has delivered a verbal barrage at the NRL, calling for the controversial Bunker system to be sent packing after a shocking call cost his team a try in Sunday's showdown with the Knights.
The defeat dashed the Dolphins' hopes of securing a spot in the top eight, and Bennett wasted no time in lashing out at the NRL's officials and the Bunker following an obstruction call that he believed unfairly went against his squad.
In a pivotal moment of the match, with the score deadlocked at 0-0 in the 23rd minute, the Dolphins seemed poised to score a try as they executed a classic three on two play down the left side, unleashing fullback Trai Fuller to dart past the defense.
But alas, the joy was short-lived as the try was disallowed due to an obstruction call on lead runner Connelly Lemuelu, who made contact with a Knights defender's outside shoulder.
"That's a tough call.
I'm not sure I agree with that at all," remarked Michael Ennis on Fox League, echoing the sentiment of many frustrated fans.
