Wayne Beavis, a pioneering NRL player agent, has sadly passed away after enduring health issues.
Beavis began his career in player management during the 1990s and is recognized as the first full-time agent in rugby league.
A key player during the Australian Super League Wars in the late 1990s, he represented notable clients such as Brad Fittler and Phil Gould.
Regarded as one of the most respected figures in the rugby league community, Beavis died on the Gold Coast on Sunday night following complications related to kidney problems, according to a report by News Corp.
In addition to his influential role as an agent, Beavis had a brief career as a first-grade player in the 1970s. During his career, he was often recognized as the best rugby league agent. His former client, Beau Ryan, expressed his sorrow on Triple M Radio shortly after the news broke.
"I am hanging on at the moment," Ryan shared during his broadcast.
"I had a big day yesterday. I had to fly up to the Gold Coast to see a friend of mine who had been unwell."
